Feeling culinary today, and since my little sister is round for the weekend I might as well make something sweet. I'll need to go out and buy sugar first (none left), we'll do that once Lann has finished taking her bath. For which I gave her a chocolate-flavoured bath marble.
A wee anecdote before I get to the culinary bit. Once upon a time my dad bought me a small bottle of chocolate flavoured bubble bath. I was about Lann's age at the time, that is, nine, and I was delighted. When I put it in the bath, it smelled so chocolatey that I tried to eat the bubbles. Needless to say, I was badly disappointed.
A similar experience happened to Lann a couple of years ago, when I'd just gone off to uni. She happened to be in my room (for what reason I'll never know), and she saw a small bowl full of bath marbles. Thinking they were sweets - they certainly smelled nice - she took a vanilla-flavoured one and bit into it. A few minutes later my mother found her in tears, but she didn't want to tell her what she'd done. Lann had thought I'd be angry with her, but I found it hilarious, and anyway, I've never liked vanilla. Which is why Lann will not be as silly as I was at that age, and eat the chocolate bath marble.

Back to today's subject. Nanette and I have decided that in Nans' absence (he's working today) we shall make brownies, to surprise him. Last year I discovered a very simple and delicious brownie recipe, which I shared with every Facebook contact I have via a note entitled "Best. Brownies. Ever." because really, they are. However I recommend using margerine instead of butter, and I don't know how much a cup is, but 250g is way too much. Half of that is plenty.
If you have the ingredients but can't be bothered baking, or you've got a sugar craving NOW and can't wait, try this recipe that my mother sent me. Below is my version, slightly modified from the original:
Ingredients:
3 tbs flour
3 tbs sugar
3 tbs cocoa
1 egg
4 tbs milk
3 tbs oil (I use sunflower oil)
Also, use a bowl instead of a mug. Enjoy!
