The bliss of lying in

Today, for the first time in two weeks, I woke up at eight o'clock, looked at the time, and... fell back to sleep again, knowing I didn't have to get up. Four hours later I remembered I'd parked the car without paying, got dressed in haste and ran outside with a pocketful of pennies only to find the police had apparently decided to have lie-ins as well.

It's sunny out, we have our car back, working, and we'll both be getting paid in a week. The third season of Skins just finished on a sort-of happy note (though many were disappointed when it didn't live up to the drama of the first season's Finale), and Picatrix, my favourite webmanga, has just reunited the heroine with her long-lost love and they're kissing, which was all the fans ever wanted. My new bank card is waiting for me to come and pick it up in fifteen minutes. Oh, and Nans finally, after many months of waiting and fanboying and dribbling on the floor, has Street Fighter IV on X-Box 360. For the first time in about nine months, everything is going great.

Remember what I said about karma in my last blog? Well, the karmic wheel is turning and I expect the following month will be brilliant. Or at least the next two weeks. Yesterday saw the last little drops of my bad luck concerning cars, as we had three wee scares but nothing serious.

First scare: when we went to pick up that damn seatbelt we've been needing for two weeks, they couldn't find it. At the last minute before we left, they did. Second scare: not a scare really, just me getting very upset because I couldn't get the hang of the reverse gear in our old car. It sticks - I actually need two hands to move it, and it was especially bad because I was getting worked up. Third scare, while the kids were in the car this time: the key wouldn't turn in the ignition, and the wheel seemed locked so it only turned a tiny bit. I rang Nans, who helped me solve it. Also, I didn't get lost coming home last night. I did spend 15 minutes trying to find a parking spot, but that's status quo in this city.

So I made a wish list for when I get my first pay cheque:
- A haircut. My "fringe" reaches the tip of my nose now.
- A new pair of knee-length boots, since the old ones broke.
- 25 blank DVDs for Nans' birthday (what he asked for).
- A car of my own.

That's right... I'm now looking for my own car. Preferably something small and easy to drive, something you can park without feeling like you've just come out of a half-hour work out at the gym. A Clio would be great, though if anyone's willing to sell me a Twingo for cheap I'll take that tooa.

Gotta go pick up the kids...
