Nooo! Rachel's gone! :'(

Rach left today. We took her to the airport in Lyon and left her to negotiate the see-thru lifts and meandering corridors when we remembered that we might have to pay to get out of the car park if we stayed for over 20 minutes. I worried for a while about whether or not she'd find terminal 3 in time. Would she get lost in the labyrinth that is St Exupéry airport? Would she find it and get her bags in, and then get caught up in the perfume section of the Duty Free and miss her flight? Would the flight be cancelled due to the crappy weather we've been having recently?

Then I remembered that Rachel is much more streetwise and better travelled than I am, and that these are the kind of mistakes I might make, but not she. Also, we got there an hour before check-in started. And I also got a text from her saying she was missing us already, so I presume she'd made it to wherever she was supposed to be and was sitting, bored, waiting for check-in to start, and perhaps reading Girl With A One-Track Mind for the third(?) time. Which is what I'm going to do once I've finished this blog.

We're back home now, though, and the house is too quiet. There's nobody speaking to me in English, no giggling at the telly, and the lack of old-songs-from-the-nineties-I-used-to-love-but-haven't-heard-in-ages is starting to weigh on my mind. Also, I no longer have her to distract me from our money problems, which we really do have to sort out as of tomorrow. Which means I'll have to go and get a job sitting at a till all day. Hopefully. I really, really don't want to go back to Mc Donald's.

This also means we may not be able to invite her back, since we will be working as much as possible to pay the bills, and we won't be doing the kind of jobs in which you can negotiate much.

But we had a good week. It was great to see her after so long, and although I know she finds it weird to speak to me in French, but she's so good at it now it feels natural to me! She's become one of the people I can speak proper Frenglish with, and that means a lot to me. Especially in terms of humour. If you're reading this Rach, I hope you had as much fun as I did!

PS - yes, I know, I look bloody stoned. Don't worry, I'm not.
