The November Post

I've stopped writing and it is driving me mad. Life is so boring without it. But when I try, I can't. The "e" button on my laptop is broken and only works if you pound it repeatedly, and when I'm inspired (which I'm not) I need to be able to type as quickly as I can think. This is Nans' computer, with all his stuff on it, and though mine is useable, it doesn't have the Internet. Either way though, I hate writing in the living room because Nans is always there, and even when he isn't, his presence is. That's not usually a bad thing, but I'm secretive when it comes to writing. Also, all my world-building files are on my laptop. Transferring them would take forever, as my laptop takes about five minutes just to open the Copy-Paste window, never mind begin the operation. Windows Vista seriously sucks, and so does Acer.

Ideally, I'd have a brand new laptop or netbook and be able to work wherever I want (the kitchen is best, when it's warm enough) but that's not going to happen any time soon. We just got our first taxes (one first I could do without), and had to replace the car boot door because the back windscreen got smashed by some scally in the night.

Our nephew Nils, who is currently n° 1 on my list of Things That Are Kawaï (closely followed by Alanna), is so big he looks twice his age now, and has started teething, which is adorable when you're not his parents. He spent our last visit growling at us - not crying or whining, but growling - which I think must be significant in regards to his future personality. Maybe Nath (his mother) has Viking heritage. She is blonde after all, and it can't come from Yann's family - him and Nans are both so skinny, if they do come from some fighting tribe, it has to be ninjas.

Season 4 of Skins is coming out soon and the trailer is viewable on Youtube. I'm going to get obsessed again, obviously, but to be honest life's no fun when I'm not obsessing over some series or trilogy. Since I've little satisfying reading material atm, I'm learning how to play "Everybody Hurts" by REM on my guitar, and I have to admit that the Corrs version of the song inspired me more. *cue outraged booing* Yes, I know it's blasphemy, but I actually don't much like the guy's voice in REM... although I do like their songs quite a lot. It's my opinion, you don't have to share it. In fact, I highly recommend you don't.

We're spending New Year's Eve at my friend Emilie's house (I think) and the theme is Dallas. As a result I've had to discover this Cheesy-But-Strangely-Addictive series in order to figure out how to dress. I'm not sure whether to go in as a cowgirl in jeans, boots, shirt and hat, or try the big-hair and 80's dress style. I like dresses but winter here is freezing, and the ride over to Emilie's ain't short. So watch this space - I might put photos up.
