Ill again

So the essential oil experiment obviously didn't work that well, because I'm ill AGAIN. And I had the following conversation with my doctor this morning:

DR: Wow, second time in less that two weeks. What sector do you work in again?
ME: Childcare.
DR: Ah, now that explains everything.

He gave me this really strong thing to take with a couple of other things. The strong thing went down with my lunch, and sent me into a druggy sleep for four hours this afternoon (although I was tired from going out). I have to take it again tomorrow, and the chemist said it was supposed to WAKE ME UP, and with the cough syrup as well I've no idea what'll happen to me.

Tomorrow is my little sister's birthday party. She'll be ten on Monday, and she just got her ears pierced, so I said I'd get her earrings, but since I'm ill, I haven't had the time. I did have the time to get her a couple of manga she wanted (the Chocola-Vanilla series, I checked it out - it's fine for ten-year-olds) so she'll have to make do with them until christmas.

Anyway, this implies driving all the way down to my parents' house tomorrow morning, which obviously I'm not doing (I'll be all druggy on cough syrup and The Strong Thing), so Nans is doing it instead. I'll have to remind him tonight, which ain't gonna be fun.

I have lots of things I want to say, but little notion of how to say them. Most of them are inconsequential things, about being ill and getting ripped off by the chemist before going to the doctor. But I'm a lot better than I was on Wednesday evening, after 11hrs work, several of them spent in the car taking the kids places (and getting my tired refilled - it's FREE in France, what a country) and using up all the tissues in their house and filling the bin with them, and washing my hands every five minutes, and trying not to breathe the same air as the kids.

After all that, I got home, made myself a honey-and-lemon, and sat down to wait for Nans. An hour later he found me passed out on the sofa, and when I woke up I tried to explain what was wrong with me, found myself babbling in a manner quite similar to that of a five-year-old, and burst into tears, likewise. Most of my vocabulary had gone on holiday and I couldn't put things in order. I'm still having trouble putting things in order, but the vocabulary is back with a vengeance.

There were two other things I wanted to say. What where they? Ah yes, the recipe for chicken stew for cold etc.:

- 4 medium potatoes
- 2 or 3 veg (I used half a leek and a small courgette)
- 2 chicken breasts
- 1 chicken stock cube
- herbs (bay, parsley, thyme, rosmary...)

Chop up all the ingredients and put them in a pot with a litre of water. Bring to the boil, then let it simmer for at least half an hour, or until you can pass a fork through the biggest bit of potato.

Serves four, or one for four meals. I made mine yesterday morning and it's still as good heated up.

The second thing was this: you know that part of the cold when your nose becomes all red and dry and flaky from blowing it too much?

I hate that part.
